[HELP] How do I safely update switch firmware having sx os installed?

5 posts in this topic

Hello,

My current Nintendo version is 5.1.0 and im running SX OS V1.5

I haven't updated since I got SXOS. But I can no longer run some of the games, because its asking me to update.

I dont think my switch is banned yet, because I never used online features.

Would it be possible to update my switch using the official servers ? Or there is a chance that I can brick my switch ?

Or maybe its better updating my switch offline ?

I would follow directions from SX website to update SX OS first. DO NOT use official servers to update, look up choidujournx and follow directions after, it is very easy.

If you update your switch you will the latest ofw 9.0.1 so you need the latest sx os v2.9.1, if you stay on 5.1.0. and have an emunand then get latest sx os and update emunand with ChoiDujourNX to latest fw or every other fw you want

Backup your NAND, create an Emunand (I prefer to keep the partition not hidden), and update the firmware using ChoiDuJour to the latest fw and SX OS. If anything goes wrong, your original NAND will be there, safe and sound and on the version you left it. Sounds difficult, but it's not.
